Conclusion

In conclusion, oppression can happen to anyone and can occur in many different situations, all over the world. In “Warren Pryor” the son fell prey to oppression by ignorance. He was unknowingly pushed into an oppressed life by his parents who were only trying to prevent him from living an oppressed life as they did. The blind man was oppressed by the circumstances of his disability. Paul Robeson’s song “Ol Man River” was about blacks being oppressed in the Mississippi and wishing to escape their oppressed lives. This is an example of outright oppression, physical, mental and verbal abuse. The white oppressors believed that it was their right to treat blacks like this. Milberry’s job was terminated because of an accident that wasn’t really his fault. In this time period blacks were not fully accepted as equals. Because Milberry was black the whites oppressed him by not excepting their responsibility placing the blame on him. The artwork of the fish is an example of how unity can be used to fight and overcome oppression. Oppression, no matter how it is applied is an unacceptable form of abuse. If everyone approached life with an awareness of treating others as we would like to be treated then maybe, just maybe, oppression would subside.

Break free from Oppression
